Cochran’s Houston Win Secures 2025 Pro Series Tour Title

GEORGE COCHRAN DURING THE 2025 ITO iN TULSA

Millican, Cancienne Claim Gold and Silver Division Crowns

The 2025 MCA Series Tour wrapped up in October at the Houston Invitational, as George Cochran secured the Pro Division title with 50 tour points. For the year, Cochran went undefeated with a 15-0 record and had five pegout wins and 326 hoop scores as he won both the Indian Territory Open in Tulsa and the Houston Invitational.

The win in Houston proved decisive in the final Pro Division standings, allowing him to edge out second-place finisher Dylan Goodwin (Kansas City Croquet Club) who ended the year with 43 points and Ron Millican from the Kactus Creek Croquet Club, who claimed third place with 40 points. Playing in just one Series Tour event, Matt Smith also broke into the top four with his 25-point win at the US Golf Croquet Classic in Denver.

Despite finishing second overall, Goodwin was ineligible for prize money as an MCA Board member. That moved the purse winners down one spot, with Cochran earning $250 for First Place, Ron Millican claiming $125 for Third Place and Matt Smith awarded $75 for Fourth Place.

Gold Division: Millican Goes the Distance

The Gold Division title was secured by Deborah Millican (Kactus Creek Croquet Club), who played three events and earned points in each, finishing with a total of 48. Her consistent run included a second-place finish at the ITO and strong placements in both the Missouri Open and Houston Invitational.

The prize pool for the Gold Division was awarded to:

  • 1st – Deborah Millican ($100)

  • 2nd – Rick Hayes (ALM) – 25 points ($75)

  • 3rd – Shane Eckert (ALM) – 25 points ($50)

While Hayes and Eckert both tied with 25 points, Hayes earned the higher spot via the tiebreaker process with utilizes Total Games Won, Head-to-Head, Total Points and Net in that order to detemine placement.

Silver Division: Cancienne Tops the Table

In the Silver Division, John Rensenhouse of the Kansas City Croquet Club set the early pace by earning 25 points at the Missouri Open. That mark stood throughout the season until Inez Cancienne (ALM) matched his total with a 25-point win at the Houston Invitational. With no head-to-head meeting between the two, the title was decided by the MCA tiebreaker formula, where Cancienne prevailed on Total Games Won, finishing with six wins to Rensenhouse’s four, securing the Silver Division Series title.

There was no cash purse in the Silver Division, but Cancienne will receive a certificate and her name will be engraved on the MCA’s Silver Division trophy.
